Mrs. Hilda Prem Kumar

Mrs. Hilda Prem Kumar comes from a deeply prayerful Christian family and has spent her life faithfully serving God through education, mission hostels, hospitality, and ministry support alongside her husband, T.E.P Prem Kumar.

She is the fifth child among six children and the fourth daughter of Rev. Bathula Samuel and Mrs. Gera Mary, a family known for its strong spiritual legacy within the Andhra Evangelical Lutheran Church (A.E.L.C.).

Family Heritage

Rev. Bathula Samuel garu was one of the pioneering pastors of the Andhra Evangelical Lutheran Church. Throughout his ministry he established and nurtured numerous congregations across Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka.

He gathered Lutheran believers and initiated church services in Hubli and Bhadravathi (Karnataka). At Srisailam, he started the first Lutheran English Medium School and gradually established church services in this important Hindu pilgrimage center.

In Madras (Chennai), he gathered Lutheran families and began services in a Tamil church building at Kilpauk Purasaiwalkam Tank Road, which later became a dedicated Lutheran congregation.

Several congregations were started through his ministry including Dornal, Bapatla, Christ Nagar Branch, Dasnagar, Detha Vari Palem, Boddu Vari Palem, Papai Palem, Santhinagar – John Pet, Vizilipet, and ILTD Staff Colony Church.

After retirement he continued to serve as a chapel pastor at Solomon Nursing Home before settling in Chirala.

Education & Career

Mrs. Hilda Prem Kumar is a trained teacher and a trained child care worker who faithfully served in several mission institutions under the Andhra Evangelical Lutheran Church.

She worked in various hostels and educational institutions helping to nurture and guide children entrusted to church care.

Mrs. Hilda Prem Kumar faithfully supported her husband T.E.P Prem Kumar in ministry throughout their life together. She travelled with him to various places of service and helped in prayer meetings and counselling sessions for people who came seeking guidance and spiritual encouragement.

Their home became a place of hospitality where many believers and prayer partners were welcomed. Through prayer, care, and encouragement she played an important role in supporting ministry work and nurturing faith in others.

Her life reflects quiet devotion, faithful service, and unwavering commitment to God's work.
